![]() RSS will help us move to Cloud more efficiently and, most importantly, make Data Batch and microservices colocation on the same machines much more effortless. Together, they make for a very flexible analysis package. Ntopng is a web-based traffic analysis tool for monitoring networks based on flow data while nProbe is a NetFlow and IPFIX exporter and collector. RSS will force all local disk writes to a remote shuffle cluster, allowing us to be more efficient in computing data in base machines and removing the hard dependency of having persistent disk on compute machines. nProbe and ntopng are somewhat advancedand therefore somewhat complicatedopen-source tools. We propose a new Remote Shuffle Service, codenamed RSS, which will move the shuffle from local to remote machines. We will focus on Spark shuffle scalability challenges in this blog post. As outlined in our Spark + AI Summit 2020 talk, currently, shuffle is being done locally in each machine, which poses reliability and stability issues, and other challenges such as hardware stability, compute resource management, and user productivity. A Spark job consists of multiple stages in the current architecture, and shuffle is a well-known methodology to transfer the data between two stages. Reader, and feed importer.Although Apache Spark has many benefits that contribute to its popularity at Uber and in the industry, we’ve still experienced several challenges in operating Spark at our scale. NewsBlur comes complete with a test suite that tests the functionality of the rss_feeds, The Django shell within the newsblur_web container. ![]() Make sure your docker containers are up and run make shell to open.To debug your code, drop import pdb pdb.set_trace() into the Python code where you would like to start debugging.Run the make nb command to rebuild your docker-compose containers.Add the following lines of code to your docker-compose.yml file to replace anywhere where it says image: newsblur/newsblur_python3ĭockerfile: docker/newsblur_base_image.Dockerfile.Add your new site-packages to config/requirements.txt. ![]() Please follow the following steps to do so. Because of how the docker image is set up, you will need to create your own image and direct your docker-compose.yml file to use it. It is built using the Dockerfile found in docker/newsblur_base_image.Dockerfile.
